Oldwolf Workshop: Exploring the Libella
The Libella is a very ancient tool used for layouts and leveling. Mostly forgotten now in this day and age. Recently while making a version of the English Layout Square done by Popular Woodworking I was inspired by a fellow woodworker to add a string and plumb bob to the square, effectively creating what is known as a libella. I had a question on my blog as to its possible usefulness, and I thought that shooting a quick video might be the best way to go explaining the basics of this useful tool.
Plans for Woodworking Furniture
A wise person would always consider alternatives to save up some money. At this point of time, many people are becoming much more resourceful in different things that surround them especially now that prices are drastically increasing every year. One big example of these is handicrafts and furniture. You definitely need to spend too much money from you pocket before getting one. Well, be less worried now because woodshop plans free can now be visited in the internet.
There is one time when I went to mall to shop for an outdoor table for our backyard and I was bit shocked with the price. Although I am capable of buying it, I’m still having second thoughts if I were to buy that table. But then I realize when I look at it, gee I can make this thing by myself so why wouldn’t I try. This is the first time I search over the net about how to make such wooden table and luckily I came over to various sites that tackle woodworking free plans.
It’s not always the price of furniture that matters.
Second thing that you must learn is choosing the type of furniture you will buy. Be particular on the color, sizes, shapes and style. Do not buy a huge couch if you only have limited space in your living room, don’t pick irrelevant colors towards your theme, don’t get glass center table if your living room chairs are wooden, there are a lot of things you must consider to harmonize the ambience of your room so always be wise and think many times before you buy.
Woodworking free plans over the net are truly advisable to be read for those people who are just getting started on the craft and of course if you would like to enjoy making stuff by yourself rather than spending too much money on handicrafts being sold in malls.
As for me, I see my work I do as a project and whenever I finished one, I always treat that as an accomplishment that you will really enjoy especially when you actually see the finish product.

Woodworking Tools – Picking The Right Ones
Article by Jeff Neilan
If you’ve officially gotten bitten by the woodworking bug, you’ll soon be in the market for some woodworking tools.
But what kind of woodworking tools and how many?
The answer to this will depend largely on things such as your budget, your style of woodworking, and the type of wood you’ll be working with.
Where you live and the space that you have available in which to work can also affect the style of woodworking that you ultimately go with. Where you live may constrict you as to the space you have available or the noise level toleration, so you may not be able to have and use the biggest and most powerful of woodworking tools. If this is the case, your style may be one of strictly working with hand woodworking tools.
If you are like most of us woodworkers, over time you’ll accumulate a variety of woodworking tools. You’ll have the large and powerful to the hand tools you bought when you were first starting out in woodworking.
The style of furniture that you are wanting to build is also an influencing factor when it comes to choosing the right tools for you. One style of furniture will more than likely require few different types of tools over another style. This is why it’s always a good idea to get yourself a good set of plans for the type of project you’re considering.
Today the amount of woodworking tools that you can buy is limited only by your ability to be able to afford to buy them.
But before you run off and bust the bank buying woodworking tools, consider that woodworking isn’t always about having the best tools. When you don’t have every tool available to help you overcome problems that arise, this can be a good thing as it will serve to develop not only your skills but your creative mindset as well.
Keep in mind that there are just about as many ways to accomplish something in woodworking as there are tools on the market. In fact, most of the time when you think you’re up against a limitation caused by your lack of tools… it’s your imagination and self skills that will come up with a workable solution if you just re-think the situation.
But, when the time comes and you begin thinking seriously about acquiring some additional woodworking tools, don’t be so quick as to rush out and get the latest shiny new object. Professional woodworking magazines are a great source of information and reviews, so take some time to see how some of the various models that you are considering have been graded.
